Artists In Residence
The Springpoint Encore Artists In Residence Program (AIR) is housed at Meadow Lakes, a Continuing Care Residential Community in East Windsor, NJ. During January and February, this senior community is filled with music and excitement as the cast of Opera New Jersey takes residency and uses the on-site auditorium in preparation for their statewide spring opera performances. Seniors from all over NJ come to witness daily rehearsals and attend special sessions that give them an insider’s view of opera and some of its emerging stars. Full costume dress rehearsals, costuming presentations, open master classes and artist roundtables are reasons for the excitement, anticipation and good spirits that are palpable during this month long experience.
NJ Opera Spring & Fall SeasonsOpera New Jersey takes the stage at all five of our Continuing Care Residential Communities in April and again in October each year. Two to five world-class opera artists, accompanied by a pianist, present one-hour programs of arias from popular Operas from around the world. These wonderful performances are designed to be easily accessible and enjoyed by senior audiences and are open to their families, their caregivers and to seniors from the surrounding communities at large as well.
Princeton University Summer Concert Series
In recognition of support from the Foundation, The Princeton University Summer Concert Series provides early admission and preferred seating to seniors affiliated with the Springpoint Foundation. Four concerts, two in June and two in July, make chamber music with virtuosity, energy and artistic excellence accessible to local audiences and keep its mantra “Chamber music should be intimate, bonding and conversational,” at its core.
Theater
The Springpoint Foundation partners with McCarter Theatre Company to provide a multiple play experience better known as Driven to Excellence. This program provides an easy, comfortable way for seniors to see four separate world renowned performances at McCarter Theatre by providing them transportation to and from the performance, early admission and preferred seating - all at a preferred ticket price!
Fine Art
Developed in collaboration with world-renowned museums, arts organizations and universities, this program brings lectures, discussions and artist-led workshops to older adults. Stimulating topics and thought-provoking programs, designed with older adults in mind, are presented and allow everyone to experience art and culture through close interaction with professional artists, teachers and lecturers.
In July of 2009, the Springpoint Foundation will be opening a permanent art gallery at Meadow Lakes. Special consideration has been given to lighting and placement of the art making it easily viewed and enjoyed by seniors.
In October of 2010, Meadow Lakes will again be hosting the New Jersey State Juried Senior Art Show. This show, held annually, hosts close to 300 pieces of work by seniors residing in New Jersey that have won their county title. The show is open to the public beginning October 6th and ends with an awards presentation on October 30th.
Dance
DancEnhance is the result of collaboration between American Repertory Ballet and the Springpoint Foundation. This unique outreach program brings together energetic professional dance performances, movement classes, educational lectures and seniors within the senior communities. Maintaining an active lifestyle and developing new skills awakens the mind and spirit of those faced with the physical realities on the aging body. DancEnhance endeavors to bring a vital art form to seniors in a unique and powerful way.
Lectures
The Encore Lecture Series brings distinguished scholars, teachers, artists, and critics to the communities where older adults live for lectures, seminars, panel discussions and a variety of related interactions. Presentations such as “Famous First Ladies”, “Jazz throughout the Ages” and “US Presidents” and readings by famed play write/director/producer Emily Mann and Actor/Author Jack Klugman provide seniors an opportunity to continue to celebrate and foster an appreciation of arts, culture, literature and history.
